Tai Chi & Qi Gong

Tai Chi is the most widely practiced martial art/ health care system in the world today. In China, millions of people commit to beginning each day with its practice. This is due largely to the fact that Tai Chi is understood to offer those who practice it a range of benefits for the mind, body, and soul. While Tai Chi can work extremely well as self defense once it is mastered, Tai Chi’s roots lie in it’s inner principles, which Taoist masters used. Tai Chi students excel primarily in amazing demonstrations of gentle inner energy or “happy chi”. A manifestation of a feeling of happiness which invades one’s life more and more. Tai Chi can be studied for its meditative, medical, and self defense aspects. Each posture has many functions.

Only recently have organized studies begun to explore the reputed health benefits of Tai Chi. Yet, centuries of empirical evidence lay claim to Tai Chi's efficiency.

As one flows through the slow and gentle movements the whole psycho-physiological system (the body/mind) relaxes (parasympathetic response), including the cardiovascular, nervous and endocrine systems. Notably, this produces a rejuvenating effect as one might expect with such a deep level of breathing and relaxation. Surely in relaxing the bod/mind and calming the spirit, Tai Chi is, at the most basic level, an oasis for modern humankind from many of the stresses and distractions of life in today’s world.
